JORDAN ZIM

Joining Martorell Law APC in 2022, associate attorney Jordan M. Zim brings his knack for technology, complex legal issues, and all things intellectual property to our boutique practice.  Mr. Zim’s superior legal research and writing skills, technological abilities, and hardworking and enthusiastic demeanor enable him to accomplish his goal of regularly exceeding client expectations.

Mr. Zim earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida with a concentration in the Business of Innovation, Law, and Technology.  While in law school, he focused his studies on business and intellectual property matters, and was authorized by the United States Patent & Trademark Office to appear in trademark matters through the University of Miami School of Law’s Startup Practicum. 

As part of UM’s Startup Practicum, Mr. Zim met with local and national startup companies to discuss organizational formation, operational risks, regulations, and concerns, and counseled startup companies on potential intellectual property issues.  He also drafted, reviewed, and delivered ownership & operation agreements, shareholder/stockholder agreements, investment agreements, SAFEs & KISSes, term sheets, corporate bylaws, invention disclosure forms, and successfully responded to USPTO Office Actions.

During his time at UM, Mr. Zim also served as an extern to the Civil and Criminal Divisions of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York and was a member of the UM Business Law Review.  Through the Business Law Review, Mr. Zim completed and published a blog post involving artificial intelligence in the legal field, and authored a publishable note regarding the effect of non-compete agreements on employment mobility in the technology sector.  Mr. Zim also completed the HOPE Pro Bono Challenge totaling 183 Pro Bono hours throughout his law school career. 

Prior to going to law school, Mr. Zim worked as a legal assistant at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in their New York City, New York and Palo Alto, California offices.  Mr. Zim assisted in all aspects of Skadden Arps’ practices including intellectual property litigation, securities litigation, commercial litigation, real estate, and mergers and acquisitions.  Mr. Zim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics, minoring in Business Administration, from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.

In his spare time, Mr. Zim enjoys video games, playing the piano, listening to music, and keeping in touch with his family.  He is a die-hard hockey fan of the Florida Panthers and his office is fitted with a shrine dedicated to his team.
